A climate-smart residential block clad in wood
Our innovative, climate-smart residential scheme in Sege Park, Malmö, winner of the Nordic Built Cities Challenge, has been completed and is now fully occupied. KS’s proposal ‘It Takes a Block’ won the design innovation competition in 2018, setting a new standard for sustainable urban living.

Centralköket for Trianon provides 65 affordable rental dual-aspect homes spread across a mix of two- to three-storey apartment blocks, with units ranging from studios to larger family-size apartments. The design, scale, and form have been carefully considered to respect and enhance the original institutional setting with orchards, as well as the neighbouring community.

Generous residential courtyards centred around the original orchard of our Sege Park scheme in Malmö. The design features a range of green spaces that create informal communal meeting places for residents to engage in various leisure activities and play.

Open-air quality space

As the expectations on life quality, wellbeing and recreational aspects increase, public places in our cities change. And so do our neighbourhoods with open-air spaces, safe routes to walk and bike to school in the morning or evening, outdoor gyms for all ages, and pleasant local green parks to enjoy. Such green spaces and good public open space generate value and serve the community. Park streets, playgrounds and urban greenery become nodes where community comes together.

A tall building that activates its immediate environment

The residential building, centrally located in the district, will deliver new rental homes offering more bedrooms and flexible spaces suitable for larger families. The units are designed to provide spatially efficient and qualitative layouts, good and generous homes that promote social living both within the private realm as well as outside in the shared communal areas and the public realm.

A neighbourhood for all

After dialogues with the public, on-site discussions and local city walks, the involvement in the Rosengård’s development is high. Kjellander Sjöberg’s assignment includes a larger urban planning strategy to activate and connect Rosengård with the rest of the city. The planning commission places the main focus on Rosenparken and a connecting green structure; as well as proximity and densification with new typologies and housing options where the tall building is the first stage and part of this strategy.

A new community landmark

As a part of the urban regeneration project Culture Casbah, the landmark building will deliver 60 new diverse homes, as well as activate public community content on the ground floor, directly connected to a new vibrant urban axis connecting the entire district. The main objective is to create a more liveable, mixed, urban, green and safe neighbourhood with human scale in focus, where everyone feels at home.

Tile House
A new distinct chapter in a historic inner-city environment

The building stands out in the streetscape with a stepped articulated volume with a muted green shimmering ceramic façade. The detailing aims to increase the building’s presence within the neighbourhood. In combination with wrought iron elements in warmer tones, the profiled ceramic tiles have a depth and a relief, providing an elaborate, finer scale to be experienced up close.
