The design concept of the museum is inspired by the burn-beating technique and the unique landscape surrounding the site. The floor represents the burnt ground, the pillars illustrate tree trunks and the roof constitutes the forest canopy.

What are the possibilities of this place?
To get ideas of what it could become, we began by looking back on the industrial heritage of the building. Although the entire area will undergo a major transformation, traces of its history will remain present.

This axonometric section drawing shows our proposal for the transformation of slaughterhouse in Faaborg, Denmark. The concept is based on the character of the area with its marina and shipbuilding yards. The old brick building will be converted into a major event venue, a meeting place for regional food culture and a public square.

Maja Gräddnos is a diverse and unique residential block in Annedal, Stockholm.
Its street facades are articulated in bricks with various shades of dark grey and dark brown. The detailing catches the sunlight, providing the surface with depth, tactility, and variety.

Unfortunately, we can’t meet in person right now and need to practice social distancing. However, we hope that the situation will change soon, and we will be able to once again meet each other in our public spaces, playing a fundamental role in the society.

Generally speaking, buildings consist of core and shell. Seen from a residential perspective, core comprises bathroom and kitchen facilities as well as M&E. The shell provides space for habitable rooms with a great level of flexibility. The core layout is rather given and should remain intact whereas shell allows for changes, moving and demolishing walls, refurbishments and transformations.

There are many important aspects to keep in mind when designing spaces. Each space should have a clear definition, one should understand where it begins and where it ends. It should have both its dimensions and proportions in mutual harmony. There should be enough space to both move freely as well as to furnish it for a comfortable life within.
