KS’s project in Tyresö has won

New collaboration between KS and Tobin Properties

Kjellander Sjöberg’s commission for designing a new housing project by the golf course in Tyresö, proceeds in collaboration with Tobin Properties.

Tyresö is an expansive area with a wealth of natural landscapes and coastline; with excellent public transport and road connections to central Stockholm. Here, in one of the area’s most attractive locations, KS and Tobin Properties develop a new, exciting, mixed urban scheme. A series of residential blocks with varied facade expressions are proposed next to Tyresö Golf Club, set around a small local street and green courtyards. The buildings along the golf course are interconnected with the green golf landscape and its related activities. Each floor and housing block will offer flats of varying sizes, respectively. Innovative floorplans and lush balconies, offering views of the landscape, characterize the project throughout.

New Eriksberg

The child optimized community

Kjellander Sjöberg has, in collaboration with Urbio, Urban Minds and Iterio, developed a playful child optimized urban planning proposal in the invited competition for New Eriksberg in Uppsala, commissioned by Uppsalahem.

Eriksberg is a popular neighbourhood in central Uppsala, built in the late 50’s. Forthcoming renovations of Uppsalahem’s portfolio of 1,500 homes and a proposed addition of 2,000 new homes, offer an opportunity for innovation and sustainable urban development where a holistic approach is requested. A development that is careful, transparent and democratic, in dialogue form, where the existing values are maintained and enhanced.

Our vision for New Eriksberg involves a long-term process aimed at creating a vibrant community with diversity, green qualities and liveability. The area will have a varied content with potential for different types of businesses, residences, residents and lifestyles. Through mixing forms of tenures, creating a variety in urban spaces, buildings and architecture from different periods, a rich and complex neighbourhood will emerge from a forward-looking and robust strategy. All urban spaces have been designed on the basis of optimizing the area from a childrens perspective. Play is a central theme in New Eriksberg.

First prize at Årstafältet

KS proposal Postgården goes forward

Now it is clear that Kjellander Sjöberg’s proposal for the second stage of the urban development of Årstafältet, Postgården, continues after completing the competition. The block of about 90 residential units is a standalone “superblock” located at the neighbourhood’s new square. KS has, together with the developer Sundsvall designed a building that will be a clear focus point on the site’s southeastern side, in the background of Årstafältet active park. The block lands on the site with an open public ground floor that house different functions. It contains a variety of apartment types both for the rental and the sales market.

From the assessment team motivation:
“City Life: The proposal is very strong in its relationship to the square and the street. With the addition of housing and commercial space that spill out onto the street, opportunities are created for street life meeting more private living spaces. Garden spaces as entrances create a welcoming home.
Architectural quality: The staggered positioning of the buildings creates an intriguing volume which is clearly visible from the park. The proposal provides good living qualities with many double-sided apartments.” – Åke Sundevall, City Planning and Development Office in Stockholm.
