Generous longitudinal balconies create potential for outdoor living and provide space for urban farming. Carefully designed rooms along open galleries allow for daylight to permeate deep into the apartments, merging outdoors with indoors.

Gjuteriet .03
Circular economy with recycling and upcycling

Material sustainability is the main strategy aiming to minimize use of resources and climate impact by making smart material choices. Besides the preservation of building elements, new construction is mainly made of timber and complementary materials make use of recycled and upcycled elements recovered from demolitions in the area. For instance, Gjuteriet has utilised 68,000 recycled bricks for the new parts of the façades.

Gjuteriet .02
From industrial heritage to a human meeting place

Located in the Varvstaden district, a new sustainable neighbourhood in Malmö, Gjuteriet is being repurposed into an innovative, open public meeting place. The historic building represents the foundation for what will become a contemporary and versatile work environment, reinterpreting the original scale and its former key role within shipbuilding industry into a vibrant creative hub.

We are excited to see Gjuteriet nearing its completion.

Gjuteriet, a significant building with strikingly robust character. The repurpose fills Gjuteriet with new unexpected spatial experiences and proposes a flexible structure in the long term.

We would like to say thank you very much for yet another fantastic year.

2022 has been such a rich and exciting year, bringing many interesting projects, exciting collaborations and meetings. We have organised and participated in exhibitions, talks and Think Tanks on inspiring topics with incredible guests. We look forward to continuing to run and develop our studios in Stockholm, Malmö and London, working towards a more sustainable society together with our fantastic colleagues, clients and collaborators.

This year’s donation goes to KS’s long-term partner @yennengaprogress , to their annual Christmas Calendar focusing on improving the life in the Nakamtenga village in Burkina Faso.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from KS!
